The SPRENGER prong collar combines outstanding quality with innovative design for effective dog training. Made from high-quality CUROGAN, it is the epitome of durability and safety. The model with assembly chain offers a limited pull.

The ClicLock closure replaces the center plate on this model and ensures quick and easy fitting of the collar. The integrated jacket prevents the closure from accidentally opening. The links hooked into the ClicLock lead away from the dog's larynx, preventing any impact on this sensitive area.

Please note that the use of the prong collar is recommended exclusively on a leash and during training. It is not suitable for off-leash activities, transport, or similar applications.

What accessories are useful for prong collars?

Useful accessories for prong collars include replacement links, ClicLock closures, safety clips and coupling straps, as well as covers and sleeves. Replacement links help adjust the length more precisely, while a ClicLock closure can make putting on and taking off easier. Accessories should always match the specific model and size of the prong collar.

What does ClicLock mean and what is it good for?

ClicLock is the SPRENGER safety closure: the button is pressed down and slid into the metal housing, with an audible click confirming secure engagement. A plastic slider then prevents accidental opening. With a breaking load of 200 kg, it holds even large, powerful dogs during training.

Which collar is suitable for hunting dogs?

For hunting dogs, a collar that is sturdy, clearly visible, and matched to the dog's neck circumference is suitable. Especially at dusk, in forest work, or in confusing terrain, signal collars or reflective collars can improve visibility. It's important that the collar fits securely and doesn't restrict the dog.

What's the difference between stainless steel and CUROGAN?

Stainless steel is the hardest material in our range, offers the highest breaking load, and is especially durable – the classic choice for strong dogs. CUROGAN is a nickel-free copper alloy, also made from solid material and rust-free, but minimizes coat discoloration and allergic reactions in around 90% of affected dogs. That's why we recommend CUROGAN for dogs with light or white coats.

What does ClicLock mean on a prong collar?

Many SPRENGER prong collars already come with a ClicLock buckle, which makes putting on and taking off easier. If you have a prong collar without ClicLock, it can easily be retrofitted. Simply replace the center plate with a ClicLock matching the wire gauge.

Are there prong collars for small dogs?

Depending on the range, prong collars are also available in smaller sizes and finer wire gauges. For small dogs, it's especially important to make sure the collar isn't too heavy, too wide, or too large. For dogs up to 7 kg, prong collars are available in a 1.5 mm wire gauge. The right size and a careful look at the manufacturer's specifications are especially important here.

How do I find the right size for a prong collar?

It's important to choose the prong collar based on your dog's weight. This determines the wire gauge, and you can adjust the length by adding or removing links. Depending on the wire gauge, add a few centimeters to the neck circumference measured behind the ears to determine the required length.

What should I look for when buying a prong collar?

Look for rounded prongs without hard or sharp edges. SPRENGER prong collars also feature a center plate for more even correction than conventional prong collars. Important: the prong collar is always worn in addition to a normal collar, never on its own, and is intended solely for short training moments – not for continuous use.
