FAQ
Why do I use a collar with an assembly chain?
A training collar is used to correct the dog's misbehavior with an impulse. The assembly chain allows you to give a short impulse by releasing the leash immediately after taking it. This means that an impulse is only given to your dog when you pull on the leash.
After some time of training, it is possible that your dog will accept the sound that the assembly chain makes when the leash is taken on as a correction, so that an impulse from the spikes of the prong collar is no longer necessary.
How do I find the right length for my dog?
To choose the right collar, you should know your dog's weight as well as its neck circumference. The weight will help you to find the right wire gauge.
If your chain does not fit perfectly in terms of length, you have the option of varying the length of the chain by removing or inserting individual links.
However, make sure that the number of links on both sides of the center plate is approximately the same.
What are the advantages of a dog chain compared to a nylon dog collar?
Especially for dog breeds with long and thick fur around the neck, a chain with the correct link thickness and size causes significantly less hair breakage than a nylon collar.
For large and heavy dogs, a chain offers a high degree of safety due to the high breaking loads. It is easy to clean and does not absorb water, so does not provide a medium for unpleasant odors, dirt build-up or bacteria.
What does Ultra-Plus mean?
Ultra-Plus refers to the middle plate of the dressage chain and the therefore synchronously arranged middle links.
The center plate serves the protection of the dog's larynx.
Which leash do I use for which dog sport?
Depending on the type of dog sport you and your dog enjoy, a different leash will be needed. While for dog sports like Agility or Obedience a special Agility leash with quick release or a short 1m leash is suitable, which can quickly be stowed in your trouser pocket; a 5, 10 or 15 meter tracking / trailing leash is more suitable for sports like Mantrailing, in the hunting dog area for tracing or tracking work.
For the daily walk a 3-times adjustable leash has proved itself, which can be hooked in three different lengths depending upon requirement.
How do I care for my dog chain properly?
Basically a mild detergent is sufficient for cleaning any kind of metal dog chain. For chains made of stainless steel or Curogan, we recommend the use of a special metal polish from time to time, such as the Diamond Paste recommended by us.
Steel chromed chains should be dried with a cloth after contact with water.
Which material should I choose for my dog?
Certainly the choice of the material depends primarily on the optics and the material, further criteria should be the suitability and the respective use.
Especially for very large and heavy dogs there are special chains with a correspondingly high breaking load, which guarantee a high degree of safety even in extreme situations.
When should a dog collar be replaced?
Not only, but especially with brass and Curogan chains, it is important to regularly check the individual chain links for wear in the links and to replace them in good time to ensure the dog's safety at all times.
If no abrasion is visible and there are no other dangers, such as sharp edges, you can continue to use the chain without hesitation.
