Measuring Correctly
Find the right size for your prong and chain collar
1. The place to be:
For prong collars, we suggest to measure right behind the dogs ears.
For chain and flat collars, take the measurement in the middle of the neck.
2. Not too tight, not too loose:
Take a flexible tape measure or a string with a ruler. Measure in a way the tape measure is close to the coat, but can still be moved and you can easily slide a finger between the dog's neck and the tape measure.
3. The comparison:
If your dog already has a well-fitting collar, you can use this as a benchmark and check yourself.

How to Find the Right Chain Length
SPRENGER collars without a pull stop are not adjustable and must be pulled over your dog's head. Therefore, choosing the right size plays an important role. Add 5 cm / 2 " to the measured neck circumference. Then choose the chain length according to the result.

Important!
Compare the length of the chain with the circumference of your dog's head so that you do not have any problems putting it on afterwards. For this purpose, measure the widest part of your dog's head.
It is similar for collars without a pull stop with a 2 mm wire gauge. Here it is usually enough to add 3 cm / 1.5" to the measured neck circumference. This is due to the smaller rings at the end of the chain.

Chain collars
We recommend to add 5-10 cm / 2-5" to the measured neck circumference, depending on the wire gauge. First of all, you should make sure you choose the right wire gauge. You need to select this depending on your dog's weight. Then you can adjust the length by adding or removing links.
